Two weeks ago I wrote a post about 20 things the TV show Friends taught me. I actually really enjoyed putting that list together (it gave me an excuse to rewatch episodes), so I thought I would do more of them with different shows.
So, here is 20 things Gilmore Girls taught me....
It's okay to wallow
When bad things happen, it is absolutely acceptable to wallow in your bed and eat junk food. Whether break up, bad grades, or a rejection letter, taking Lorelai's advice will always make you feel better.
Food is the answer to everything!
Happy, sad, excited, stressed - food is always the right answer to any mood or situation. Enough said.
You will have bad days
Sometimes you will wake up and not be in the best of moods. And that's perfectly fine, your friends and family will still love you even if you're a little grumpy.
Alcohol can be a bad influence
We all know this. You have a couple of drinks and all of a sudden you're telling someone something embarrassing, or dancing on the bar. Although it's pretty good sometimes, alcohol can also make you want to hide in your bed for the rest of your life due to the decisions you make.
Snow is the best thing ever!
And it doesn't matter if you get as excited as a child on Christmas morning when it comes.
Risks can be worth it
Those times when you don't know whether to take a giant risk or not - DO IT! Sometimes the greatest things can come from putting yourself out there.
Needing your mum is okay
Some people think as soon as they grow up, then they now need to be extremely independent. But it's okay to need your mum, especially when in a new situation.
There's no such thing as too much food!
No explanation needed....
Not everything will go the way you want
But you need to pull yourself together and move on. Bigger and better opportunities will come your way, and as cheesy as it may sound, everything happens for a reason.
Tell people how you feel
Although you may be scared. Scared of rejection or embarrassment, what if it goes the way you want it to? There are two options: tell them (with the risk of rejection), or sit wondering what if.
Be yourself in every single way
Channel your inner Rory, and don't worry about what others will think, and be yourself.
You can build broken bridges
Even if you argue with someone, there is always an opportunity to sort things out. Sometimes it's the people we love the most that we push away the easiest. And if you can acknowledge the issues and sort them out, why not?
Making pop culture references in every opportunity is totally acceptable
Show off your completely useless knowledge of the big pop star, or the stars of a reality TV show. Even if everyone doesn't get your absolutely random reference, at least it could be a conversation starter!
Follow your dreams
No matter how big, chase any dreams you have. Although it might be really hard to achieve, if you want it badly enough, go and get it.
Bad boys can seem irresistible
Some may be sensitive and nice deep down when they are with you alone. However, if they are rebellious with not much life ambition, sometimes you'll just have to pull yourself together and find yourself a good guy.
There's more to life than looks
Studying and working hard will get you a lot further in life than good looks. So who cares if you go out dressed in sweats with your hair up, it's not everything.
Sometimes we have to sacrifice the things we love
Sometimes after thinking about your life, you might realise you have to give up something that truly means the world to you to progress. It's hard to give up these things, but in the long run it may be truly worth it.
Sometimes the best thing can be right in front of you
You may search for ages for the perfect person, job, or house, and all of a sudden you realise what you want has been right there all along.
Sometimes you need a caffeine dose to help
Whether it's late nights and early mornings, or just a slump in the middle of the day - we all need a little caffeine boost sometimes.
This is awesome. I love the Gilmore Girls and can't wait for the 25th to watch the new ones. Great post.
